18-year-old with knife kidnaps teen from home, NC cops say. She’s found 115 miles away
A teenager was kidnapped from a North Carolina home and then found more than 100 miles away, officials said.
The 17-year-old girl’s abduction sparked an hourslong search involving local, state and federal agencies, according to the High Point Police Department.
Now, an 18-year-old man accused of abducting the teen faces multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder. Officers in an Oct. 25 news release didn’t list attorney information for the suspect, identified as Fransisco De Jesus Delgado Arevalo.
Police reported being called at about 9:30 p.m. Oct. 23 to a home in High Point, near Greensboro.
“A witness told officers the suspect came into the home, forced the victim out with a knife, put her in a vehicle and drove off,” officers wrote.
The police department identified Delgado Arevalo as a suspect and shared information about his vehicle with officials in other states. The morning after the teen went missing, police said Delgado Arevalo was seen on an interstate in Christiansburg, Virginia, roughly 115 miles northwest of High Point.
Police also found the girl, who they said knew Delgado Arevalo. She was “taken to the hospital for treatment and is expected to recover,” according to officials.
In addition to attempted murder, Delgado Arevalo also faces charges of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary, communicating threats and assault with a deadly weapon. He also faces charges in Virginia, police said.
Officials in their news release shared few details about their ongoing investigation and said they wouldn’t be revealing more “due to the nature of the case and the victim’s age.” Anyone with information on the kidnapping case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 336-889-4000 or use the smartphone app called P3 Tips.
