Dog owners couldn’t afford surgery, NC shelter says. Then came a flood of donations
Dog owners couldn’t afford a surgery for their pup named Hunter — then the donations poured in.
Now, Hunter can come back home to his family, according to the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society in North Carolina.
The animal shelter shared the good news late Oct. 29, just hours after it posted an emergency request on Facebook. Hunter was taken to a veterinary hospital after likely being hit by a car, but the $1,600- to $1,800-procedure to repair his leg cost too much for his family.
“He’s just two years old with a broken femur,” the shelter wrote in its social media post. “Any donation, share, and prayer will help get him on his way to healing.”
As of early Oct. 30, the shelter’s Facebook fundraiser collected more than $1,600 in donations, adding to the money that Hunter’s owners were able to raise.
“We have raised enough to fund his surgery and the best part — he gets to stay in his home with people that love him,” the shelter wrote. “Reunification is always the goal and we’re elated that in this case we could band together for this dog and his family.”
The Fayetteville Animal Protection Society said donations went into Sydney’s Fund for Sick and Injured Animals, and leftover money would help other furry friends.
