5-year-old hit and killed by car was ‘always the light of the room,’ Georgia family says
A Georgia family is mourning the loss of a 5-year-old boy killed in a crash.
Devin Estes died Sunday, Oct. 29, after he was hit by a car in Tifton, according to Georgia State Patrol.
A Toyota Corolla traveling on State Route 35 hit Devin as he was crossing the street at approximately 6 p.m., troopers said. He was taken to a hospital but died from his injuries.
“Devin loved to color, write, he loved to dance, he loved Paw Patrol, and he loved his tablet,” according to an online obituary. “He was very loved by many and he loved everyone, especially his brothers. He was always the light of the room.”
Family members said Devin was a student at G.O. Bailey Elementary School.
“Tift County Schools mourns the loss of a member of our student body,” district officials said in an Oct. 30 Facebook post. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time.”
Devin’s funeral is planned for Nov. 2, according to the obituary.
He’s survived by his parents, two brothers and his sister.
Tifton is about 180 miles southeast of Atlanta.
