Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce inspired names of NC rescue dogs. See cute ‘Swiftie’ pups
The developing relationship between singer Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce inspired the names of North Carolina rescue dogs — and people can’t get enough.
While several of the “Swifties” have been adopted, other puppies with names connected to the celebrities still needed homes as of Nov. 1, animal rescue organizations told McClatchy News.
Adorable photos shared on Instagram show two of the puppies preparing for their next chapter. Taylor the pup is seen dressed in a tutu while Travis wears a sweatshirt bearing the logo of the Kansas City Chiefs, the team of his namesake.
The costumed dogs aren’t a couple but instead are brother and sister. They are recovering from carpal laxity, a condition that impacted their ability to move, according to The Maggie Society in Wilson, roughly 50 miles east of Raleigh.
“We’ve had them at two separate events, and people just giggle when they see them, especially when they show up in their sequinned dress and their football outfit,” Laurie Robl Brumfield, founder and president of the animal rescue organization, told McClatchy News in a phone interview. “The puppy Taylor is incredibly outgoing. And during our events, her foster mom has done multiple costume changes.”
Though Taylor loves being in the spotlight, Travis is a smaller dog that prefers to snuggle, officials said.
Meanwhile, another puppy with a celebrity-inspired name is up for adoption in North Carolina. Drew — who bears the same name as the subject of the song “Teardrops on My Guitar” — was one of eight pups born to rescued mama dog Taylor Swift.
A YouTube video shows the Raleigh-area siblings — “Ivy, Betty, Tim McPaw, Travis, Kelce, Cory, Drew, and Ronan” — wagging their small tails as they run across a patio.
“Because the pups and mom were beagle mixes, we thought giving them a Taylor Swift theme would help them find loving forever homes — and it has,” Triangle Beagle Rescue of NC told McClatchy News in an email.
Now, Drew is the only one of the bunch who hasn’t found a home. The animal rescue said he loves snuggling and playing with toys.
