A log truck crashed into a school bus with students inside at a Georgia intersection, state troopers said.

The truck was approaching an intersection when the driver “disobeyed a traffic control device” in LaGrange on Thursday, Nov. 30, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The truck rammed into the right side of the school bus, which had three students onboard, according to a Troup County School System news release.

When the truck hit the school bus, it overturned on the road, causing its load of logs to tumble out into the intersection, state troopers said. While the logs rolled out on the road, they hit a van that stopped at the intersection, according to Georgia State Patrol.

There were four people on the bus at the time of the crash, state troopers said, one of which was sent to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center “with minor injuries.” The log truck driver was also hospitalized after the collision, Georgia State Patrol said.

An administrator helped take a student to the hospital, the school system said, where they stayed with the child until their parents came.

The intersection was closed for about three hours before being cleared, according to Georgia State Patrol. The collision is under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol as of Dec. 1.

LaGrange is about 65 miles southwest of Atlanta.
