A grandma has been using the same special numbers on lottery games since her husband died a few years ago.

Now she’s a $50,000 winner.

The retiree bought a Pick 5 game for $1 in North East, the Maryland Lottery said in a March 12 news release.

She selected five numbers related to her wedding anniversary, lottery officials said.

Then while at home March 9, she checked her ticket and realized she had the winning numbers.

I sent a screenshot to my sister and told her to call me,” she told the lottery office.

She has plans to use her prize money to pay off bills and to spend on her grandsons.

“I have never won this much,” she told lottery officials. “The most money that I had won was $1,000.”

North East is about a 50-mile drive northeast of Baltimore.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
