An 18-teen-year-old driver was arrested after being accused of fatally hitting a father of two, Arizona officials said.

Rachel Nicole Berg was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Corvette on the highway when she noticed she was fast approaching a motorcyclist, later identified as 46-year-old Michael Clark of Mesa, according to troopers.

Berg was driving 155 miles per hour about five seconds before the crash and wasn’t able to slow down in time, officers said.

At the time of collision, she was going 87 miles per hour, officials said.

Clark hit a concrete wall before falling off his motorcycle, troopers said.

“He never met a stranger and he was so warm and welcoming. And our house was always the house for holidays. He loved to cook for people. He loved being a father. He loved being a father to his kids and he was an amazing husband,” Clark’s wife told AZFamily.

Berg stopped her car and tried to perform CPR, but Clark died from his injuries, officers said.

“He should’ve been home at 10:45 and I got out of bed at 11:15 and he wasn’t and I could hear the police helicopter. And I knew, I knew. I called him. He didn’t answer. I texted him, but he didn’t read it,” Clark’s wife told AZFamily.

Berg was arrested and booked into Maricopa County Jail on a manslaughter charge, officers said.

Clark was part of the Tacoma, Washington Police Department for 14 years before relocating to Arizona, according to his obituary.

The department will have a celebration honoring him next month, AZFamily reported.

Officers said the crash investigation remains ongoing.

Mesa is a 20-mile drive east of Phoenix.
