Man tries to run over cops with stolen car, then he’s shot in the head, Texas cops say
A man attempting to run over officers in a stolen car was shot in the head and killed, Texas officials said.
San Antonio police were called to an apartment complex on May 19 regarding a man smoking marijuana by the pool, Chief William McManus said.
When they arrived, police noticed a stolen vehicle, so they parked behind it, McManus said.
As officers spoke to the complainant, the man accused of smoking marijuana jumped in the stolen car and drove over the curb, avoiding the parked police car, according to McManus.
The man sped toward the officers standing on the nearby grass, McManus said, but officers fired shots “because they were in the path of the vehicle.” He did not specify how close the car got to the officers.
The man was shot in the head, according to McManus.
He was taken to the hospital, where he died, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office. The man has not been identified.
The investigation is ongoing, McManus said.
