A 3-year-old boy died after he was found unresponsive in a relative’s pool, according to Illinois officials and news reports.

The boy, who was visiting Machesney Park from Des Moines, Iowa, was discovered in the family member’s pool at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, the Rockford Register Star reported.

CPR was administered to the boy, and he was then taken to a hospital, according to a Winnebago County Coroner’s Office report obtained by KWWL.

The boy was pronounced dead just more than an hour after being discovered, the coroner told WTVO. A preliminary autopsy revealed his cause of death as a drowning, the coroner said.

McClatchy News has reached out to the coroner and is awaiting a response.

The child was identified in a GoFundMe as Kaden, the son of Ashley Fagan.

“Kaden was such an amazing little boy, full of love,” organizers of the GoFundMe said.

Machesney Park is about a 90-mile drove northwest from Chicago.
