A South Georgia woman is accused of racking up more than $100,000 in purchases on credit cards she opened using her employer’s account, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The 67-year-old was charged with two counts of theft by taking in connection with the years-long ruse while working as a secretary at Youmans’ Machine Shop, investigators said.

She had been working there since 2006.

The GBI began investigating an alleged theft at the Donalsonville business in February, at the request of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the woman opened credit cards in her name under her job’s business account. Between 2018 and 2024, she spent more than $100,000 on personal purchases, the GBI said.

A special investigator assigned to the case said her spending included items from Amazon and home improvement stores, along with gas, clothing and other things.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.

Donalsonville is a more than 200-mile drive southwest from downtown Atlanta.
