A Wisconsin shelter sent 3-month-old Tiggerr home with an adoptive family in 2022, but things didn’t work out.

His adopters decided to dump him in the wild “to live with the ferals” rather than return him to the Columbia County Humane Society in Portage, Wisconsin, according to the animal shelter.

Life in the wild was tough for the young cat, the shelter said, adding, “Tiggerr wasn’t doing well surviving on his own.”

The now nearly 2-year-old cat eventually made his way back to the shelter after he was found trapped at a local business, the shelter said in a June 12 Facebook post.

He was missing parts of his ears due to frostbite and in “pretty rough shape” when he arrived, according to the shelter. “He was emaciated, and his skin was falling off of him when you touched him.”

They took him to a vet clinic and nursed him back to health. Tiggerr is now “thriving” and ready to find a new home, the shelter said.

“Tiggerr would love a home where he could lounge around and watch birds in a feeder!” the shelter said. “He’s quite content snuggling in a cozy bed and eating a yummy meal.”

The “unique” cat would thrive in a home without young children and dogs, the shelter said. He needs a “safe home with a nice cozy bed to nap on,” they said.

Portage is about a 40-mile drive north of Madison.
