A woman jumped out of a moving vehicle after deputies said her boyfriend refused to pull over in Arizona.

She later died from her injuries.

The girlfriend called 911 at about 6:20 p.m. July 20 from the area of Catalina Highway and Melpomene Way, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release provided to McClatchy News.

William Holloway, 36, had taken a drug and was driving up Mount Lemmon, which is northeast of Tucson, deputies said.

He wouldn’t stop the vehicle to let her out, so she called authorities, deputies said.

Deputies said they began following the vehicle, but Holloway wouldn’t pull over for authorities, either.

When he was going 25 to 45 mph, the girlfriend jumped out of the moving vehicle and was critically injured, deputies said.

At this point, deputies stopped pursuing him, and the woman was taken to a hospital where she died.

Holloway was later arrested on multiple charges, including domestic violence kidnapping, first-degree homicide and unlawful flight from law enforcement.

The investigation is ongoing.
