Poker player hits jackpot with rare hand in Las Vegas. What were the winning cards?
A player ended up with one of the rarest hands in poker while at a casino in Las Vegas.
Their luck won them $423,018, thanks to a straight flush hand.
The anonymous player hit the jackpot Saturday, July 20, while playing Fortune Pai Gow poker at Palace Station Hotel and Casino, the hotel posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Fortune Pai Gow poker combines the Chinese game Pai Gow with the American game of poker, according to Resorts World.
Instead of a typical poker game with five cards, Fortune Pai Gow poker players have a seven-card hand.
The lucky player won the $418,018 jackpot with cards 6, 7, 8, 9, jack, queen and Joker standing as a 10 — all with the red heart suit. They also won $5,000 on a side bet, the $5 Fortune Bonus.
This hand is called a straight flush, when cards are in sequential order and all in the same suit.
“A straight flush represents one of the rarest and strongest hands you can make in a game of poker,” according to Upswing Poker.
