Niece thinks uncle’s gift of winning Michigan lottery ticket is prank. ‘Is this fake?’
A 25-year-old woman sat down with her uncle to scratch off the Michigan lottery ticket he gifted her. As she uncovered the ticket’s numbers, she started to question its authenticity.
“Is this fake?” the Ottawa County woman first thought to herself when she saw the prize.
Her uncle wasn’t playing a prank. The woman had scratched off a $300,000 prize, the top payout in the Emerald Green Wild Time game, Michigan Lottery Connect officials said in an Aug. 14 news release.
“I was immediately overwhelmed because I’ve never had this amount of money before!” the women told officials.
The winner recently claimed her prize, but she is still “trying to take it all in,” she told officials. She plans to invest the money.
Her uncle purchased the ticket at Lincolnshire P/S & Deli in Holland.
Holland is about a 180-mile drive northwest from Detroit.
