Kitten had ‘near-tragic beginning’ after being tossed from car. Then a hero saved her
A kitten in Colorado is showcasing her resilient nature after a traumatic start.
The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region in Colorado Springs shared the story of Sarsaparilla (Sassy for short,) a baby cat who is well versed in perseverance and whose tale — while beginning sadly — had a very happy ending thanks to her savior.
“Sarsaparilla had a near-tragic beginning,” the society said in a Sept. 3 Facebook post along with pictures of Sassy.
“A neighbor witnessed Sarsaparilla being thrown out of a car window on a highway in front of their home. They immediately came to her rescue and cared for her for the night until they could bring her to HSPPR.”
Luckily, despite what the neighbor witnessed, they were able to get the kitten to the shelter, which reported her injuries were minimal.
“Our veterinary team did a full exam of Sassy when she arrived, and as you can see from the photos, she had an open mouth wound and dried blood on her lip and around her eye. Remarkably, these minor injuries were the extent of her physical trauma,” the post continued.
“Sassy was lucky to be found when she did because she walked away from a scary situation with only minor injuries.”
The photos show a happy, and healthy, Sarsaparilla.
“She healed right before our eyes, and we love looking back at her resilient journey. After about a month in our care, Sassy was fully healed and officially adopted into a new home!” the shelter said.
“Sarsaparilla’s story is not one of sadness or defeat but one of triumphant perseverance, and we are honored to be a part of it.”
