Kitten rescued from ‘precarious spot’ on highway. Now, ‘Lucky’s living up to her name’
A kitten “is definitely thriving” at her new home after she was rescued from the shoulder of a Utah highway, officials say.
Construction crews stumbled on the kitten in a “precarious spot” while working on I-15 bridge repairs, the Utah Department of Transportation said in an Aug. 29 Facebook post.
She was “trapped on the inside shoulder next to the concrete barrier,” officials said.
With nowhere to go, “the kitten seemed to be crying out for help, trying to find a way across the freeway,” according to officials.
Officials said troopers slowed traffic in the area.
Then, crew members “ran across the freeway to save the kitten,” officials said in a Sept. 10 Facebook post.
The kitten, named Lucky, found a new home with one of the construction workers, officials said.
“We hope there’s a lot of love and catnip in Lucky’s new home,” officials said.
Though it’s unclear if the kitten’s home is stocked with catnip, it is chock-full of love.
“She spends her days playing with three kiddos, a dog, and even a turtle,” officials said.
Photos shared by officials show the family members lovingly holding the tiny kitten.
“It’s safe to say Lucky’s living up to her name,” the department wrote.
