A man killed his brother and then himself in their Texas home as their mom heard the commotion, authorities said.

Their mother found them dead inside her son’s bedroom on Monday, Oct. 7, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a news release.

The sheriff’s office received a 911 call at about 2 a.m. and deputies responded to a townhome in far north Houston, KTRK reported.

The woman’s 22-year-old son “had a history of mental health issues” and fatally shot his 24-year-old autistic brother, “then turned the gun on himself,” Gonzalez said.

When the mother heard the disturbance, she tried to intervene, but the bedroom door was locked, KHOU reported. She broke the door open and found her sons shot.

She suffered a panic attack and was taken to a hospital, investigators told the outlet.

“It appears to be a murder-suicide involving two brothers,” the sheriff said.

Deputies told KTRK they haven’t determined what may have motivated the killing, but an investigation is underway.
