Lottery player wins $1M jackpot at a Florida grocery store. Where was lucky ticket sold?
A Florida lottery player tried their luck on a scratch-off ticket — and won big.
Edwin Scroggin turned $30 into a $1 million jackpot prize on a Florida 300X the Cash game, the Florida Lottery said in an Oct. 21 news release.
Scroggin bought the lucky ticket from a Winn-Dixie on South Marion Street in Lake City, officials said.
The White Springs man claimed his winnings Monday at the lottery’s district office in Gainesville, choosing a lump-sum payment of $695,500.
Scroggin didn’t say how he plans to use his prize money.
He beat odds of 1-in-1,950,175 to win the $1 million prize, according to the lottery’s website.
Two of four $15 million top prizes remained in the Florida 300X the Cash scratch-off game as of Oct. 22.
Lake City is about a 60-mile drive west from Jacksonville.
