A 56-year-old caretaker was fatally stabbed in a group home after she asked a man to turn down his music, according to Ohio police and news reports.

Police in Akron said the caretaker called 911 on Friday, Nov. 15, and said a client had “grabbed her by her arms and pushed her into a wall,” WOIO reported.

Officers arrived at the group home and found a man with “visible injuries to his hands,” police told WKYC.

They also discovered the woman who had called 911 was unresponsive with a stab wound, according to WJW. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Sometime between the dispatch call and the time the officers got there, he had already assaulted her further,” Capt. Mike Miller told the Akron Beacon Journal.

The injured man, identified by WKYC and WJW as 34-year-old Jarel Wooden, was reportedly taken into custody and charged with murder.

Police told the Beacon Journal and WOIO the initial fight stemmed from the caretaker asking the client to turn down his music.

Officers have not publicly released the identity of the caretaker.

Court records show Wooden will be arraigned Monday, Nov. 18.
