Fight between two Alaska brothers ends in arrest — and a missing crocodile, cops say
Two brothers in Alaska came to blows — and tossed each other’s pet reptiles into the snow, authorities said.
One of the pets — an alligator — was rescued, but a pet crocodile couldn’t be found and is presumed to have died from the cold, Alaska State Troopers said.
The Dec. 4 incident in Wasilla involved brothers who are 30 and 33 years old, officials said.
The 30-year-old brother called police after the fight, according to a dispatch from troopers.
“Investigation revealed the brothers had an argument which resulted in a physical altercation. Following the altercation, the 33-year-old brother threw the (younger brother’s) pet alligator outside into the snow. The (younger brother) then proceeded to throw the 33-year-old brother’s pet crocodile outside into the snow as well before leaving the scene with his 2-year-old child,” troopers said.
The younger brother was arrested in connection with driving under the influence, endangering the welfare of a child and cruelty to animals, while the older brother was arrested in connection with assault and animal cruelty, troopers said.
Alligators and crocodiles both are legally allowed as pets in Alaska, according to the state Department of Fish and Game.
Wasilla is about a 45-mile drive northeast from Anchorage.
