A newborn puppy on the verge of death had to fight to survive.

The fighting champ was rightfully dubbed Warlock, and he is thriving after being discovered abandoned with his puppy sibling in an inhumane way, the Pennsylvania SPCA said in a Dec. 6 Facebook post.

“At just one day old, Warlock was abandoned,” the Philadelphia shelter said. “Without intervention, he would die.

“Dumped in a box with his sibling, they had been left to fend for themselves - something they could not do.”

When they were found, time was already running out as both pups were struggling to breathe.

“Sadly, the puppy that came in with Warlock didn’t make it, and we worried that he would meet the same fate. But, we didn’t give up. We never give up,” the shelter continued. “Thanks to the quick action of our veterinary team, he was rushed into the home of an experienced foster for emergency care. He was placed in an incubator with oxygen and tube-fed.”

According to the shelter, the path to healing would also be a waiting game.

“As the days passed, he kept fighting; he wanted to live,” the shelter said. “And, he did. He defied the odds that were so clearly stacked against him.”

This is Warlock today, at almost 2 months old.

“He is a happy, playful puppy with a heart full of love to give and will soon be looking for a forever home,” the shelter said.

Warlock is not up for adoption right now, but visit the shelter’s website for updates.
