Man shot while in his car goes to gas station for help and dies, Texas police say
A Texas family is looking for answers after authorities say a man was fatally shot in his car.
Police were called to a gas station in Houston for reports of a shooting around 9 a.m. Dec. 5, according to a news release from the Houston Police Department. A man had come to the gas station and told a worker he had been shot.
Officers responded and gave medical aid until paramedics arrived. The 45-year-old was then taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The man, identified by loved ones as Edward Jimenez, was driving to work when he was shot, his daughter Leila Jimenez, told KTRK.
“He was an honest man who worked so hard to get to where he was in his life and to provide for our family,” family members told KHOU.
The man’s vehicle was found with multiple bullet holes in it, police said.
“I just want to ask them why. ‘Why did you do that? Why did you feel the need to shoot my dad? Why did you get so mad to get to that point to take another life?’” Leila Jimenez told KTRK.
As authorities investigate, they are looking for one or more people who were in a burgundy Kia Optima who may have information on the shooting.
“I can tell you right now there’s no if ands or buts that somebody saw what happened,” Andy Kahan with Crime Stoppers of Houston told KHOU.
Police say they have no suspects or motives in the case.
