A Texas man traveled to Las Vegas for a rodeo championship, but he ended up walking out of a casino with a big prize.

Now, the visitor from Littlefield is nearly $1.5 million richer.

The man was in town for the Wrangler National Final Rodeo, Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel told McClatchy News Dec. 10.

He went to the downtown casino on Fremont Street and tried his luck at a $5 “Wheel of Fortune” slot machine, the casino said.

The man placed a bet, hit spin and watched as the symbols flashed across the screen until a jackpot message appeared.

He won $1,494,585.82.

Another visitor got lucky at the same casino when they bet $2.50 on a Dollar Storm slot machine and won over $138,000, McClatchy News reported.

The rodeo runs from Dec. 5 to Dec. 14 and takes place at Thomas & Mack Center.

Littlefield, Texas, is about a 350-mile drive northwest from Fort Worth.
