Officer, a dad of three, killed in wrong-way crash on way home from work, NV cops say
A police officer, a father of three, was killed in a crash with a wrong-way driver while driving home after his shift, Nevada authorities say.
Colton Pulsipher, 29, was driving on the North Interstate 15 Thursday, Dec. 12 when he was hit by a wrong-way driver, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The multiple-car crash, reported just after midnight, left Pulsipher and another man dead, according to Nevada State Police, The Nevada Globe reported. A woman was also injured in the crash and airlifted to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Pulsipher, who started working with the department in 2017, worked for the Tourist Safety Division, Traffic Bureau, police said.
“He worked tirelessly to protect and serve our community,” police said.
In a Facebook post, the Las Vegas Police Protective Association said Pulsipher “was a great cop and a better friend.”
Pulsipher’s friend, Steve VanBaber Jr., echoed the sentiment, calling him “a one-in-a-billion guy” in an interview with KTNV.
“He was great,” VanBaber Jr. told the outlet. “He was positive and always funny.”
Pulsipher’s sister-in-law said on Facebook that his death left her feeling sick to her stomach “with pain and sadness.”
“Even though it doesn’t feel real and that he will just come back, I miss him so much,” she said.
Photos shared by the department show Pulsipher’s work motorcycle adorned with flowers and surrounded by Star Wars memorabilia and candles.
He is survived by a wife and three children: a 5-year-old daughter, 2-year-old son and 11-month-old son, according to a fundraiser for the family.
