Nearly a month after fighting social media star turned boxer Jake Paul, boxing legend Mike Tyson is speaking out about the fight.

In an interview with Covino & Rich on Fox Sports, Tyson admitted that he doesn’t “remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little.”

“I remember coming back from the first round and Jake is doing some kind of…I don’t know what he was doing,” Tyson explained while mimicking Paul’s bow in the ring.

“And that’s the last thing I remember,” he said.

As Tyson continued, he admitted to feeling regret following the fight.

“The day after I woke up and said to my wife, ‘Why did I do that?’ I just don’t know what the (heck) was going on,” Tyson told Covino & Rich.

“I don’t remember it,” he continued, “but my body was really sore, my chest, my stomach was really sore.”

This is the first time Tyson talked about his experience following the fight. However, the 58-year-old did share a statement on Instagram in the days immediately after.

“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” he wrote. “I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.”

“I almost died in June,” Tyson continued, referencing the reason the original date of the fight was moved.

On May 26, Tyson had an “ulcer flare-up” during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, USA Today reported.

“[I] had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won,” Tyson wrote.

“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”

Tyson is a father of seven.

Tyson and Paul went all 8 rounds on Nov. 15 with Paul winning by unanimous decision. The bout was livestreamed on Netflix.
