A 34-year-old man called 911 to report he had killed his roommate “because he thought he was a pedophile,” Arizona police said.

Adam Tucker contacted authorities at about 12:10 a.m. Dec. 11, the Prescott Police Department said in a news release.

Police said they detained Tucker and found his 73-year-old roommate unresponsive on the floor of their apartment.

They tried to perform life-saving measures on him, but he was pronounced dead, police said.

Before his death, Tucker told police he asked his roommate if he was “sexually attracted to children,” authorities said.

Tucker said the man then acted “weird” about letting another roommate borrow his phone, police said.

Because of this, Tucker said he went into man’s room where he was lying in bed and put him in a chokehold until he died, police said.

Detectives examined the man’s phone “and no evidence was located linking the suspect to any type of child pornography or pedophilia,” police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Prescott is about a 100-mile drive north from Phoenix.
