A Michigan man was arrested after police say he stabbed the president of the company he worked for during a meeting.

Fruitport Township police were called to Anderson Express Inc. in Muskegon just before 9:30 a.m. Dec. 17 for reports of a stabbing, according to a Facebook post by the police department.

At 9:20 a.m., employees were attending a staff meeting. During the meeting, a 32-year-old employee stabbed the president of the company in the side with a knife, police said.

The employee then ran out of the business, got in his vehicle and left, according to police.

The man was stopped by police about 15 minutes later and arrested.

Employees told police the man had a “quiet demeanor.” Police said a motive for the stabbing hasn’t been determined.

Anderson Express Inc. did not immediately respond to McClatchy News’ request for comment on Dec. 18.

The victim was taken to a hospital where they underwent surgery and remains in serious but stable condition, police said.

Authorities were able to recover video recordings from the scene.

The police have not released the name of the employee but say he is expected to be arraigned on Dec. 18.

Muskegon is about a 40-mile drive northwest of Grand Rapids.
