Mega Millions player wins $1 million prize. Where in the US was the lucky ticket sold?
A Mega Millions ticket sold in Michigan won $1 million, just missing the $62 million jackpot, lottery officials said.
The tickets matched five winning numbers, but not the Mega Ball, in the drawing Tuesday, Jan. 7, the national Mega Millions site said.
The winning ticket was sold at a Shell gas station in New Baltimore, which is about a 40-mile drive northeast from Detroit, the Michigan Lottery said.
The grand prize now rises to an estimated $77 million, with a cash option of approximately $34.1 million, for the next drawing Friday, Jan. 10, the site said.
The winning numbers were 20, 24, 33, 39 and 48 with a Mega Ball of 18, the lottery said. The Megaplier multiplier was 2x.
Nearly 400,000 other tickets sold in the United States won prizes ranging from $2 to $20,000 in the drawing, the national Mega Millions site said.
The Mega Millions jackpot was last hit Dec. 27, when a California player won the nearly $1.3 billion grand prize, lottery officials said.
