Inspired by her husband’s green thumb, a North Carolina woman tried her luck on a digital lottery game.

“I was spinning in circles,” Heather Jones told lottery officials after her big win.

The Bear Creek woman won $150,000 after playing $30 in the Fire and Spice digital instant game, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery. She beat odds of 1 in 1 million to take the top prize.

“He grows all kind of peppers,” Jones told lottery officials of her husband. “I like playing that game because it reminds me of his garden.”

She recalled doing “a little dance” after realizing she’d won.

Jones claimed her prize Friday, Jan. 10, at lottery headquarters in Raleigh, taking home $107,633 after taxes, officials said.

The Chatham County woman said she plans to pay bills and pay her daughter’s college tuition.

Bear Creek is about a 50-mile drive southwest from Raleigh.
