‘Sweet’ senior dog has tail wag that ‘melts hearts.’ The ‘grandma’ pup needs a home
A “sweet” senior dog was found in rough shape — and now, she needs a home.
“Despite being underweight and showing signs of neglect — such as fur loss, dental issues, and small growths — Debbie’s warm spirit shines through,” the Triangle Beagle Rescue of North Carolina wrote Jan. 9 in a Facebook post.
Debbie also “melts hearts” when she wags her half tail, described as a distinctive and charming feature. The 12-year-old pup is up for adoption after she was found as a stray and pulled from a shelter.
“The shelter said she did have an owner that was contacted and they do not want her back,” Lindsey Dennis, the dog’s foster parent, told McClatchy News via email. “Despite her challenges, she has a sweet temperament and deserves a loving home where she can receive the attention and care she needs.”
Debbie is now “safe and thriving” at the Raleigh-area rescue, where she’s working on potty training. She is set to be spayed and have a mass removed before she starts heartworm treatment.
As she waits for a home, Debbie has become known as a “certified snuggle champion” who never barks. She has shown her “loving nature” to members of her foster family, who affectionately call her “Grandma Beag.”
“Her favorite things include snuggling, cozying up in a soft bed, and simply being in the company of those who love her,” the beagle rescue wrote. “Calm, low-maintenance, and endlessly affectionate, Debbie’s gentle demeanor makes her the perfect companion for anyone looking to add love and warmth to their home.”
Rescuers haven’t shared updates with McClatchy News since Jan. 10, when Debbie remained up for adoption. Details about the animal organization’s adoption process can be found at tribeagles.org.
