A Virginia woman said she started “freaking out and shaking” after hitting a big lottery jackpot before work, lottery officials said.

Elizabeth Butterfield, a small business owner who likes to play some of the online games while getting ready for work in the morning, won $203,235 while playing the High Roller Jackpot, the Virginia Lottery said in a Jan. 10 news release.

“Wait a second!” Butterfield told the lottery she remembered thinking. “What happened?”

She said the first person she called after realizing her win was her sister.

“We were yelling and screaming on the phone,” Butterfield said.

She told lottery officials she didn’t have immediate plans for her winnings.

The overall odds of winning a prize in the High Roller Jackpot game range between 1 in 4.73 to 1 in 4.61, according to the lottery. The jackpot odds vary by price point, with them being 1 in 2,000,000 to claim the top prize.

The game began Nov. 8, 2022, and the estimated jackpot as of Jan. 13 is $29,456, according to the lottery.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
