Lottery player kept winning ‘bigger and bigger prizes’ — so he had wife double-check
A lottery player’s strategy for choosing which game to play paid off with a big win in Missouri.
The Unionville player perused the games on his mobile app before deciding which one he would play, and wound up choosing a “$5,000,000 Fortune” game that “had a lot of big prizes left,” he told lottery officials, according to a Jan. 15 news release.
The lottery app displays estimated unclaimed prizes for various games, officials said in the release.
“He scratched the ticket when he got home and had a hard time believing his eyes as he uncovered bigger and bigger prizes,” officials said.
So he had his wife double-check to make sure his eyes were not deceiving him — and he’d really won prizes amounting to $50,000, officials said.
“He was in the kitchen and I was in the living room, and he kept running around to tell me what he had won,” his wife told officials. “He had me look at it to make sure he was reading it right.”
“$5,000,000 Fortune” players have won over $68.9 million from playing the $50 game, which currently has over $183.6 million in unclaimed prizes, officials said.
