Lottery player gets lucky for second time and wins another jackpot in North Carolina
A Durham man just won big for a second time in the North Carolina lottery, and both victories were in the Cash 5 game.
That means Andrew Stock has twice beaten odds of 1 in 962,598.
His latest prize was $120,000 in the Jan. 10 drawing, the N.C. Education Lottery said in a Jan. 22 news release.
Stock’s previous Cash 5 win was $141,109 in August 2021.
If you’re hoping he’ll impart tips for the rest of us, don’t hold your breath.
“It’s just a numbers game,” Stock said in the release. “For some reason I just got a feeling that I won. ... Then I woke up in the morning and saw that I did win.”
Winners have to match five numbers in the game, which costs $1 per play.
If Stock has a strategy, it’s playing the game online and at night ... and he lets the terminal randomly pick the numbers, a process known as Quick Pick.
Stock claimed his latest prize Jan. 21 at lottery headquarters and it came to $86,100 after federal and state taxes.
He plans to invest the money for his retirement.
