A Missouri man needed a calculator to confirm the big prize he won on a lottery scratch-off ticket.

The man bought a Fun 5s Scratchers ticket in Kirksville, according to a Jan. 30 news release from the Missouri Lottery.

“I play that ticket a lot,” he told lottery officials.

But after scratching the ticket, and seeing his prize, he needed to confirm the $100,000 win was real.

“I actually drove to my girlfriend’s house to show it to her to make sure I was reading it right,” he said.

His girlfriend then called her son into the room to check the ticket. But the lucky player still wanted more confirmation.

“He actually brought in his calculator,” his girlfriend said. “He said, ‘I’ve never held this much money in my life!’”

In the end, the man was able to verify that he won the $100,000.

Kirksville is about a 165-mile drive northeast of Kansas City.
