A man had high hopes for a sweet treat at the end of the work day after receiving a text from his wife.

“I have a surprise for you when you get home,” the La Porte woman’s message read.

Her surprise was much sweeter than the brownies he was hoping to come home to. Upon taking his shoes off, his wife blurted out that they had won the Indiana lottery.

The couple was the winner of $300,000 after the wife matched all 10 numbers during the Quick Draw, Indiana lottery officials said in a Feb. 10 news release.

Earlier that day, Debra Keller took her tickets off of the fridge to check for any winners. In the past, she had gotten a smaller prize here and there, but she was surprised to see a notification telling her to contact the lottery office.

As the couple celebrated their win, Keller said she never got around to making a batch of brownies.

“He’d been asking me to make him brownies, but I was too flustered to bake after finding out what I won,” she told officials.

The couple plans to spend their winnings to refinish their hardwood floors and take a cross-country trip on a train.

La Porte is about a 150-mile drive northwest from Indianapolis.
