Woman kills boyfriend in quarrel over what was served for breakfast, Louisiana cops say
Valentine’s Day weekend turned deadly at a Louisiana home when shots were fired during a quarrel over bad breakfast options, according to investigators.
It happened around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at a home in LaPlace, and ended with a man dead and a woman in jail under a $1 million bond, the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a Feb. 17 news release.
The victim was identified as Joshua Jones, 23, of LaPlace, and the suspect is his girlfriend, 24-year-old Tamyrihu Hubbard of Marrero, officials said.
“Hubbard called the St. John 911 Operations Center saying she had shot her boyfriend in the chest,” the sheriff’s office said.
“Hubbard told deputies that she and Jones had been arguing over the food that was made for breakfast.”
Deputies arrived and found Jones with a gunshot wound to the chest, officials said. He died at the scene.
Hubbard was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, officials said.
Investigators didn’t release details of the offending food item that put the couple at odds.
LaPlace is about a 30-mile drive west from New Orleans.
