Dancer met women at clubs, then ‘lured’ them home and assaulted them, OR officials say
A man accused of assaulting multiple women he met while working as a dancer at a pair of Oregon nightclubs is heading to prison, prosecutors said.
Ali Muhammed Quraishi, 33, was sentenced Feb. 18 to more than 145 years behind bars, the Washington County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
Quraishi met his victims between 2016 and 2023 while working at two Portland nightclubs, according to prosecutors.
“He supplied the women with alcohol and lured them back to his apartment in Beaverton. He then proceeded to engage in sex acts with the victims while they were in conditions in which they could not consent,” prosecutors said.
McClatchy News reached out to Quraishi’s attorney Feb. 19 and was awaiting a response.
A Beaverton detective started investigating in May 2022.
“Through the course of her investigation, she learned of the defendant’s crimes against the other victims. Two of the sexual assaults occurred while the investigation was already underway,” prosecutors said.
Quraishi was found guilty in November of “23 counts involving the assaults and sexual assaults of nine women,” prosecutors said.
The counts include first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree sodomy, first-degree invasion of personal privacy, fourth-degree assault and first-degree unlawful dissemination of an intimate image, according to prosecutors.
In the release, prosecutors commended “the bravery of the victims in reporting this abuse and persevering through a challenging legal process.”
Authorities believe there could be more victims and asked anyone with information to contact police.
Beaverton is about an 10-mile drive southwest from Portland.
