Lottery player scores $25,000 a year prize in North Carolina. Where was ticket sold?
A North Carolina lottery player scored a massive prize — but might not know it yet.
The player bought a Lucky for Life game ticket that matched all but one number picked in the Feb. 19 drawing, making it worth $25,000 a year for life, results show.
The winning numbers: white balls 7-21-30-41-42, with gold Lucky Ball 2.
So, where did the player hit the jackpot? The winning ticket was sold at the One Stop store in Red Springs, a roughly 90-mile drive southwest from Raleigh, the N.C. Education Lottery wrote in an email to McClatchy News and on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Lucky for Life, which is played in 22 states and Washington, D.C., is a drawing game that offers $2 tickets. The Red Springs player matched all five white balls to win big. But the person was one number from scoring the game’s top prize of $1,000 a day for life, lottery officials wrote on their website.
As of about 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 20, no one had claimed the $25,000 a year for life prize. In North Carolina, drawing game winners have about six months to cash in, rules show.
