Lottery player wins life-changing prize from scratch-off game. ‘I couldn’t believe it’
A Virginia woman spent $30 on a scratch-off game during a pit stop and won a life-changing prize, lottery officials said.
Jennifer Ivey, from Ashburn, won a $5 million top prize in the 100X the Money game, the Virginia Lottery said in a March 14 news release.
“It feels amazing,” Ivey told lottery officials. “I just kind of stared at it because I couldn’t believe it!”
She purchased her ticket at a 7-Eleven in Chantilly, about a 30-mile drive west from Washington, D.C., the lottery said.
There is one other top prize left unclaimed for the 100X the Money game, which began in September 2022, according to lottery officials. The odds of winning a top prize are 1 in 2,652,000.
The game features other prizes ranging from $30 to $300,000, lottery officials said. The overall odds of winning are 1 in 2.82.
