A lucky Powerball player in Colorado won $100,000, just missing the $55 million jackpot, lottery officials said.

The ticket matched four of five winning numbers, the Powerball and the Power Play in the drawing Monday, April 7, according to the Colorado Lottery.

No one hit the grand prize, so the jackpot has grown to an estimated $65 million, with a cash prize of $31.4 million, for the next drawing, Wednesday, April 9, the national Powerball site said.

The winning numbers were 20, 23, 48, 59 and 66, with a Powerball of 4, the lottery said. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.

A Georgia Powerball player also scored a $100,000 prize during the drawing, McClatchy News reported.

A California lottery player won $79,846 after matching four numbers and the Powerball. Prize amounts are pari-mutuel in the state, so prizes are based on ticket sales and number of winners.

More than 295,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the U.S. also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said.

What to know about Powerball

To score the jackpot in the Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

Drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:59 p.m. ET and can be streamed online.

Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
