Lucky lottery player scores major jackpot prize from $5 online game in NC

A North Carolina woman scored big jackpot prize from an online lottery game entry that she bought for $5, officials said.

Misty Bridges, of Wagram, won a top prize worth $780,794 in the Magic Winnings Vegas game, the North Carolina Education Lottery said in an April 17 news release.

This is the first top level jackpot to be won in the game, which includes a progressive jackpot that grows as more people play, according to lottery officials.

Bridges’ odds of winning that prize were 1 in 12.9 million, the lottery said.

The Magic Winnings Vegas game cost between 50 cents and $30 to play and has an overall odds of winning are 1 in 3.75, according to the game’s web page. The new estimated jackpot as of April 18 is more than $180,000.

Wagram is about a 100-mile drive southeast from Charlotte.
