A former sheriff’s deputy accused of having child sex abuse videos is on the run, Colorado officials said.

A 28-year-old former San Miguel Sheriff’s Deputy, later identified as Jesus Damian Nieblas, was accused of having 27 videos of child sex abuse, according to a July 28 news release by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Nieblas was a code enforcement officer with Telluride Marshal’s Office before he was hired by the San Miguel Sheriff’s Office in 2020, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office told KCNC.

He resigned from his position on June 25, officials said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Nieblas on felony charges of sexual exploitation of a child and persons required to report child abuse or neglect, officials said.

Officers don’t believe Nieblas is in San Miguel County and said none of the victims involved are children in the area.

Anyone with information in regards to Nieblas’ whereabouts are asked to call 970-248-7500, officials said.

San Miguel County is about a 360-mile drive southwest from Denver.
