Human remains that were found likely belong to a missing man last seen in May, Colorado officials said.

On Aug. 6, Summit County deputies recovered human remains near Officers Gulch, according to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office.

The remains were found in a steep, remote area along with personal belongings that were confirmed to belong to Sean Marquardt, a missing Vail man, officials said.

Marquardt was last seen May 7 and his car was found abandoned May 11, officials said.

The remains were sent to the Summit County Coroner’s Office for identification, officials said.

Officers Gulch is about an 80-mile drive southwest from Denver.
