A man has been arrested after being accused of raping a 12-year-old, Utah officials said.

On Sept. 8, officers responded to a Bluffdale home after getting reports from a family that an 18-year-old, later identified as Ryker Xethanial Buxton, was hiding in their daughter’s room, police told KSL.

Buxton had been hiding in the 12-year-old’s room for 10 days before the family found him, officers told FOX 13.

On Sept. 15, the parents called 911 to report their child missing before she was found with Buxton in Provo the next day, officers told KUTV.

During an interview, Buxton told them he engaged in “multiple sexual acts with the 12-year-old child while he was concealed in her bedroom,” according to a statement provided to KSL.

Buxton was arrested on suspicion of child rape, child sodomy, child object rape, burglary and unlawful child kissing, police told KUTV.

Bluffdale is about a 20-mile drive south from Salt Lake City.
