Man sexually assaults teen, then her friend stabs him, New Mexico officials say
A man has been convicted in the 2024 attack and sexual assault of a teen, New Mexico prosecutors said.
In May 2024, a 16-year-old girl met Bryant Anyangwe at a plaza in Albuquerque, and he took her and her friend to his apartment, according to an Oct. 17 Facebook post by the Bernalillo County district attorney.
At his apartment, the man, who was wearing an GPS monitor in connection with a separate rape case, sexually assaulted the teen , prosecutors said.
She then convinced Anyangwe to take her to a different place, prosecutors said, though they didn’t specify what that location was.
When she denied more of his sexual advances, he “brutally attacked” the teen and her friend, the district attorney said.
The teen’s friend stabbed the man so the two could get away, prosecutors said.
Anyangwe was convicted on charges of criminal sexual contact of a minor, aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm and false imprisonment, prosecutors said.
