He didn’t cry or scream. Instead, Cam Newton fell.

After the Denver Broncos made their last touchdown, securing a 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, Newton, the Panthers’ MVP, took to the ground while on the sidelines.

The NFL tweeted Newton’s reaction, billing it as an emotional one after the Panther’s historic 17-1 season came to a disappointing conclusion.

Reaction from fans ranged from acceptance, understanding and loyalty to ridicule, mockery and utter disappointment.

Some railed against Newton after he walked away from a post-game press conference.
