This GoPro video showing extremely risky motorcycle stunts led to 3 convictions

Sussex Police this week released video showing a series of dangerous, high-speed motorcycle stunts and tweeted: “This video illustrates exactly how NOT to ride a motorcycle.”

Three men in the UK were convicted of dangerous driving after video evidence showed them weaving in traffic, doing wheelies and speeding at almost 200 mph. In a statement, Sussex Police said they released the video to raise awareness of the risks associated with dangerous driving.

The video was obtained by police following several reports of dangerous driving and a collision in East Sussex on April 20, 2019.

One of the motorcyclists was identified as Thomas Ettridge, whose GoPro camera was seized. Ettridge, Thomas Hayden and Matthew McLaven received sentences of 10 months, six months and four months respectively, according to Sussex police.

McLaven’s sentence was suspended. All three were disqualified from driving for at least two years, police said.

“The speeds and general aggressive manner of the riding identified are simply ridiculous and leave no room for error should the slightest of issues have occurred,” Sussex police said. “Not only are the riders risking their own lives, but also those of the other road users around them throughout these journeys. This sentencing should act as a stark reminder of the consequences of such behavior on the roads in Sussex.”
