Now that’s a roadblock: See thick lava roll into La Palma, Spain from active volcano

Video from Canary Islands Volcanology Institute (Involcan) shows lava rolling across the ground on the Spanish island of La Palma, where the Cumbre Vieja volcano has been erupting for more than five weeks.

The video was shot on October 28, 2021. The volcano first erupted on September 19. A new south lava flow was reactivated and was running parallel to another on Camino Aniceto, Involcan said.

As of Wednesday, lava flows had destroyed 2,183 buildings, the EU’s Copernicus Emergency Management Service said.
