Republican U.S. Rep. Steve Knight has been in Congress only a few months, but he stood his ground with anti-immigration protestors last week who suggested he voted for “amnesty” for undocumented immigrants.

In a You Tube video posted Saturday by the group “We The People Rising,” the Lancaster Republican confronted a man who apparently sustained a handshake a little too long outside Knight’s Simi Valley office last week.

“Mike,” Knight said to the man, “if you touch me again, I’ll drop your ass.”

The group of protestors said Knight had voted for immigrant amnesty during the recent congressional debate over funding the Department of Homeland Security. Knight denied that his votes on the issue constituted support for amnesty. The Washington Post analyzed the controversy.
