Interactive: Many familiar players in East Bay Senate fight
Today’s runoff election between Susan Bonilla and Steve Glazer in the East Bay’s 7th Senate District is the fourth high-dollar race in the region since June 2014. Last year’s ballot included primary and general election fights in the overlapping 16th Assembly District featuring Glazer, Democrat Tim Sbranti and Republican Assemblywoman Catharine Baker.
The elections and offices are different, but the four contests shared many of the same business, labor and wealthy individual donors, campaign companies and outside spending committees, financial disclosure documents show.
The interactive chart below shows who’s been spending a lot of money and time in the East Bay the past year.
Blue circles generally are donors, yellow circles generally received money: candidates, campaign committees and vendors. The lines show the direction of the money; their width reflects the size of the financial tie. Hover over a node to highlight connections.
